The new Terminator wasn't terrible! I'm surprised. Though it had its flaws it was much better then Terminator 3 and Salvation... and I actually enjoyed it mostly. I probably won't be watching it like 30 times like Judgement Day, but its not like I expected it to ever live up to Cameron's work....

First off, the action was good and so was the pace, the film never became boring even with how complex the story was so it certainly gets points for that.

The film itself runs like the greatest hits of the the franchise which is both good and bad.

The pros: Revisiting 1984 (the first terminator timeline) was a lot of fun for obvious reasons.. You get more things like crazy manoeuvres from the T1000 etc and Arnie gets to kick some ass and even be funny at times....

The cons: How many times do they have to repeat lines from the previous films? Sarah Conner says: "Come with me if you want to live" Really? Again? Really? Come on, having that as an obligatory line in each movie is actually annoying. "I'll be back" is just like an obligatory oh, we'll just squeeze that in there, the audience will love that! Nope, not really, see in the first Terminator that had impact! Like the impact of a car coming through the wall! This is there just for the sake of it...

Aside from that, I think JK Simmons character was borderline pointless, you could nearly have cut him out of the movie and barely noticed! A crying shame for such an excellent actor.. Generally the script could have done with more tweaking, some plot towards the end just seemed outright silly, but I will say the chemistry between Arnie and Emilia was actually pretty good!

Overall: It's no Judgement day but you know what, it was actually a decent film and it was great to see Arnie as the Terminator again, and not saying "talk to the hand" . I can see why James Cameron endorsed this as the true sequel to T2...

 Storyline

The 17-year-old Sean Anderson receives a coded signal and his stepfather Hank helps him to decipher the message. They find that Sean's grandfather Alexander Anderson has found the mysterious island in the Pacific described by Jules Verne and two other writers in their novels. The stubborn Sean wants to travel to the coordinates and Hank decides to buy the tickets and travel with the teenager to a small island nearby the location. I hate to admit this. But I actually enjoyed this movie... I feel ashamed but it's a bit of goofy fun. Far superior to it's overlong, too silly predecessor this fun, energetic fantasy adventure movie keep things moving quickly. After a short but cool setup reintroducing us to the Josh Hutchinson character from the predecessor as he's escaping from some cops after breaking into a satellite station. He soon engages his stepfather played by The Rock and discovers a message from his grandfather about the mysterious island. Moving things along quickly they get there and it's filled wonders from giant lizards, mini elephants and sharks, giant bees they fly on, a gold filled volcano. All visualized in a bright, cheezy sort of CGI that is reminiscent of the 1950s monster, adventure flicks that inspired this one. Sadly, I skipped this in theaters but from what I've seen the 3D must have been pretty amazing. Of course not a lot of the movie makes much sense, but I think it's important to shut your brain off when watching it. it's a very entertaining popcorn flick. There a few laughs, some exciting action set pieces and even a little romance. And as for performances Michael Caine and The Rock leave a better impression than Brendan Frasier left in the first one, Vanessa Hudgens is fine in a supporting role and well Josh Hutchinson is looking pretty good. He's definitely a good actor and his movie star looks are starting to show. So all in all it's more fun than you'd expect ignore the cynics and go in with an open mind. 3.5/5

This movie really surprised me. When I read the premise I was quite skeptical, believing that this movie would be another one of Hallmark's cheesy rom-coms (not that that's a bad thing!) but I quality of this movie was great!

The lead actors were fantastic, particularly Amy Acker who delivered a great performance.

I thought the writing of this movie was really great, as it didn't end in the cliché way I thought it would. I liked that the characters faced more strife and trouble in their relationship than the average Hallmark romance.

9/10 stars. You lost the last star in the finale moment. Just a teensy bit corny. Otherwise a great flick. Recommended.

Those that had to get Fifty Shades of Grey out of their system did so on opening weekend. Those who were curious did so the following weekend. Those that are going this weekend are probably just going to be drunks and guys who wear trench coats a lot (even in summer). We need a new adult romance now and Focus fits the bill, and also puts way more of an emphasis on the word "adult". It's also a return to form for Will Smith, looking for a boost after that After Earth debacle in 2013. He's still every bit the playa we want him to be in a movie directed by Glenn Ficcara and John Requa (Crazy, Stupid, Love) that has a stylish sexiness in almost every scene.
Smith plays Nicky, the kind of confident, well dressed mystery man who doesn't seem to mind eating at a fancy restaurant alone. He's approached by Jess (Margot Robbie), they get to talking, and soon they're both going back to his hotel room. It's a con but Jess is an amateur, leading to a scene of sly humor that Smith plays to perfection. But Jess wants to learn how to "dance in the dark" as Nicky puts it and so after learning a few tricks from him, she follows him to New Orleans where she finds herself a member of his team of pickpockets. Through sleight of hands and various scams, Nicky has a whole network of people focusing on gambling, credit card fraud, tricking adulterous married dudes and more. They clean up, which is part of the fun.
This movie is all about being smooth and it revels in that almost as much as it does in the beauty of its two stars and the vibrancy of the place they're in. New Orleans, from Mardi Gras to a casino to the Superdome, supplies a perfect backdrop as these two get frisky and flirty with each other. They have great chemistry, it's sexy but shows just the right amount of restraint for two people who are into each other but can't risk distraction in their line of work. By far the best scene in the movie though comes when Nick bets with an Asian businessman (an excellent B.D. Wong) during a football game. It's crazy just how out of control it gets and it ends awesomely.
The movie can only go downhill from a scene as audacious as this and it does. Nicky and Jess suddenly go separate ways only to reunite three years later in Argentina where Nicky is helping out a grand prix owner (Rodrigo Santoro) that Jess just happens to be dating. Do these two share real feelings or is one or both just playing the other? Who knows, but we're pretty sure that Ficarra and Requa lose the playful spark between these two in Argentina and there's an ending plot twist that I'm not sure really works. Gerald McRaney has a few good scenes as a hard-ass, suspicious bodyguard here but it's Smith, playing a guy with a gift of gab, and Robbie, a beauty with not just a great smile but also poise, charm, and humor, who keep Focus afloat even when the movie doesn't seem quite sure of itself.

Monkey Kingdom opened my mind to learning about animals in the wild! This is a great nature documentary, especially if you like monkeys and, contributions from ticket sales of this movie will help save the monkeys in south Asia.

Monkey Kingdom begins with an explanation of how a certain group of monkeys live. Specifically, it focuses on Maya and her baby, who are considered the lowest of the group. It discusses their lifestyle, their routines and how they have to deal with the different seasons and the weather. They also talk about their struggle for survival. Finding food, especially for the ones at the bottom of the tree, is a challenge. These monkeys have a king and three queens. It is amazing that even though they are monkeys, they still have a social hierarchy.
My favorite part of this movie is when all the monkeys are playing with each other and swinging from their homemade "original" jungle gym. I also like the part when the lower class runs out of food and have to find a way to survive. They locate the humans' house and raid their kitchen. They even confiscate all the eggs from the hen house!! It is hysterical to see a monkey running off with a sub sandwich.
My favorite character is Kip, Maya's son! He is a cute baby monkey that is so innocent and, most of the time, has no idea what is going one. He depends on his mom for protection. Maya is on the low end of the social hierarchy. She is a female monkey with a nice personality unlike the three sister queens who act as if they own everything. I love how Maya protects her baby at all costs. Tina Fey is a wonderful narrator for this, giving a clear understanding of what is taking place.
The thrust of this documentary is to raise money to help maintain the habitat of monkeys that live in the jungles of South Asia. I recommend this film for kids age 6 through 18. Both boys and girls will enjoy it because, who can resist watching monkeys play. I rate this movie a five out of five dazzling stars! Be sure to check it out when it comes out in theaters on April 17, 2015.

After watching the trailer for this film i can say that i was definitely intrigued because it looked like something a little different for Adam Sandler. And after watching this film not only was this a different role for Sandler it was a very different movie, it felt odd and unique so i give it props for being different. The movie starts out as being very grounded and pretty slow for the first 20 minutes, and i wasn't getting any comedy from the film at that point so it seemed like i was in for a complete bomb. But after then the movie changed, the pacing of the movie stayed relatively similar but it got very weird and at the same time a little more interesting. The idea of someone living out other peoples lives in their shoes was intriguing and made me want to see where they went with the film. Unfortunately where they went was into a series of 4 to 5 different subplots, all of which weren't really that interesting. They offered a few funny moments but none of the humour really connected, not that i was too surprised after Sandler's previous works. But i wasn't as disappointed about there being not nearly enough humour because to me this film was more of a drama than a comedy, sure there are a couple of funny bits but the focus of the film was still on Adam's character Max who was part of definitely the most interesting subplot.
I haven't been able to say this in a while but the scenes with Adam Sandler were actually my favourites of the movie as he is really the only character that undergoes any character development at all. Well, no-one else was really in the film long enough to get any character development or they were just playing various stereotypes. There is a twist at the end that was a pretty good twist to reveal.......... if i hadn't already guessed it two thirds into the film. It was unfortunate but i felt like they hit you over the head too many times with clues so that by the time they revealed it you already knew. Also there are a few cameo's in this film including one by Dan Stevens that unfortunately weren't used to the best of their ability so a bit of wasted potential with some of those characters. So in the end it is still not a very good film but one of Sandler's better ones recently, 1 or 2 good subplots out of 5 and some pretty meaningful and emotional moments are not enough to make up for the not so entertaining and unfunny subplots and predictable ending. If you're looking for a laugh out loud Sandler film this isn't for you but if you are looking for him to play a more grounded role in a drama-like film then you may get a bit of a kick out of this. - 4.5

Storyline

Viewing this movie in the theatre is different than usual. While you walk in and grab your seat, you may feel that everyone around you is anticipating the same thing ... a powerful story about a powerful man with a powerful purpose. That's a lot for a movie to live up to.
I believe you will walk out of the theatre with many thoughts after watching American Sniper ... and one of those thoughts will be that Bradley Cooper gave unwavering respect to Chris Kyle, his family, his fellow SEALS, his country and the movie industry. He bulked up his shoulders and took on a very difficult role that etches him on the list of "Great Actors" as he plays the real life character of Chris Kyle. Simply put - he was believable. His look. His accent. His Texas strut. His dip. His eyes. Watching the film you can clearly see what I assume to be parallel of what Kyle experienced on the battlefields abroad and at home. I can only hope the Kyle family and friends feel the same, as Cooper's acting appears to be a beautiful tribute to a "Legend".
While Clint Eastwood didn't break any ground with direction, I do believe he was a perfect choice for this film and did an incredible job telling Kyle's story without putting politics on the screen. This is a rough story to watch no matter your political views ... war is hell on all sides. If Eastwood put politics in the film I believe the audience would have lost the purpose of the piece. This is a movie that liberals, conservatives, libertarians, and "I-don't-knowins" can appreciate.
The best movies make you walk out of the doors seeing the world a bit differently. American Sniper gives an eerie look into a world that we, as Americans, are so far away from. Many of us don't know death like this. We don't know what it's like to face the mental and physical challenges our troops face during war. We've never been in the middle of a sand- storm fire fight. Eastwood, his crew and cast provide us with a small glimpse into what our troops face overseas and stateside. After seeing the movie inside an enormous mall, it was a bit surreal to walk out to an Urban Outfitters and Apple store full of Christmas shoppers. American Sniper will push you outside of everyday life to tell you a story that will stir your head and your heart.
Personally, American Sniper brought many emotions about the courageous servicemen, women and their families that have touched my life. Over the years I've had the honor to work with the American Veterans Center (AVC) in Arlington, VA, who host the National Memorial Day Parade and Wounded Warrior Experience among other great events. Some of the veterans who starred in American Sniper have also shared their story during AVC events. If this movie inspires you to learn more about these outstanding men and women, please check out AVC.
American Sniper also reminded me of the bravest people I know -- Lance Corporal Nicholas Erdy and his family. Much like you see on the screen, the Erdy's sacrifice and love for our country is the stuff superheroes are made of.
To the Kyle family, Erdys, all veterans, servicemen and women, and their families ... thank you for your sacrifice and courage. Your stories inspire us to strive for love and peace. To Eastwood, Cooper and the American Sniper team ... thank you for clearly putting your heart into this important American story. Bravo.

This film looks beautiful and has a certain atmosphere that warmed me to the characters and initially the story line. Perfect performances from Mr Rickman and Ms Winslett; their scenes together are little gems. I felt Winslett's role was lacking in terms of character background. The explanation of her troubled past felt like an after thought and rushed. By this time I felt little empathy and felt a little cheated. I wonder if certain key scenes had been deleted to fit the time-scale allowed. So perhaps the title, A little Chaos, is quite fitting. Overall a sweet film and I would watch it again on television for the scenes that I really did enjoy.

"The Desolation of Smaug" is sure to satisfy those who thought the first installment dragged its feet. From the first frame to the last, the movie is a thrilling achievement of Peter's. The action is none like we've seen in any middle-earth installment. The visual effects are much improved, the pace is seamless, and the danger is ever more present. Yet through it all, Bilbo and the company's journey to reclaim the Lonely Mountain is not forgotten as the driving force of this tale.

Oh hold on Morgan Freeman plays the king ! Add to this Indian and Asiatic cast members and you've got something that doesn't really work
I'm going to have to be very careful what I say here in case I'm picked up wrong but If you're casting a medieval movie and you've employed the united colours of Benneton there should be a good reason for this . In fact it's the perfect opportunity to make a screwball post modernist satire similar to BLAZING SADDLES with swords and one wonders how much fun Quinten Tarantino would have had with LAST KNIGHTS ? Here however there's not the slightest hint of self awareness , post modernism , irony or anything else hinting that the film is laughing at itself or its audience or its genre
This is the major failing of LAST KNIGHTS and I don't think I've seen such a serious , po -faced film for a long time , Each and every single scene is treated with absolute reverent seriousness , so much so you fear that anyone rustling sweet papers or coughing in the cinema will instantly be put to death . Someone somewhere behind the scenes seems to be under the impression the more serious a film is it equates to it being a better film . This is certainly not the case here otherwise it'd a serious contender for best picture at next years Oscars . I do concede it has more chance than FIFTY SHDES OF GREY of winning awards that's hardly an earth shattering prediction
Ignoring the suggestion that medieval Europe was a melting pot there is an annoying irritant that is far harder to ignore and that is everyone tends to speak in a different sounding accent . Some characters have oriental accents , some English accents , some American accents and some characters have generic European accents and when they're all speaking heavy sombre Shakespearian type dialogue it's hugely annoying and distracting . If you're doing a film like this at least have an exclusive classically trained Brit cast all speaking in the same accent or do the absolute opposite and have Samuel L Jackson ride in to town to chop off some mother effing heads with a mother effing sword . Now that would be a great film
Oh BTW can the people who worked on the film please stop registering with the site so they can write a glowing review saying LAST KNIGHTS deserved 10/10 . Thanks in advance

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, the book. "Atlas Shrugged" changed my life and I continue to struggle with the principles she wanted to teach us.
The team that attempted adapt this amazing story for the screen had a huge challenge ahead of them. I wanted them to succeed. I wanted the world to learn these truths. Unfortunately, they have failed in all three movies.
Poor direction, editing, casting, acting, and costumes have plagued each movie. There are bright spots in each movie, like the narration in this movie (I would have used a woman like Ayn to tell the story). The effects are good as is the cinematography but these movies needed to be an amazing so that we -- Ayn's fans -- would so love these movies that we would push the rest of the world to watch them. Without our support, they have failed.
The Galt speech showed in this movie, while abbreviated, needs to become a viral video.

In Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, there is a scene in which Django (Jamie Fox), soon after being freed by the incredibly likable dentist turned bounty hunter, Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz), shops for new clothes to wear.
Schultz tells Django to pick out whatever he likes. Django looks at the smiling white man in disbelief. You're gonna let me pick out my own clothes? Django can't believe it. The following shot delivered one of the biggest laughs from the audience I watched the film with. After the white man confirms that yes, he is indeed letting the black man pick out his own clothes, we cut to a wide shot of Django riding his horse, now decked out in his very own (outlandish) cowboy outfit—an all blue with white ruffle get-up.
It's a great little scene that provides humor and allows the viewer to further warm up to the two main protagonists. But it also does more than that. It's a simple scene that speaks for the whole film. It's an affirmation that this man of color is now free and able to make his own decisions. The choice he made concerning his extravagantly loud outfit acts as a warning to those that plan to stand in his way—watch out, here I come, I ain't gonna be quiet no more.
And the humor the scene provides echoes the entire film—it wants us to get comfortable with our hero. Tarantino knows that a man of color makes an unconventional hero in a revenge- flick—that's why he made the film. When was the black man going to get his revenge film? It's been long overdue. With Django Unchained, that film has finally arrived and it has arrived in style. Beautifully shot, wonderfully acted, and meticulously written, it's Tarantino at his most epic.

This review comes from someone who likes Famnily Guy and really enjoyed TED... but this new one... was... ouch... I went in expecting a few laughs but there were fewer than even my low expectations predicted. Other than the script everything is top notch. Actors are great. Charlize and Liam and Sarah Silverman etc are terrific. It's too bad they didn't have something better to work with.
Liam in fact seems like he's in a different movie. He's 100 percent serious. That might be Seth's point in making a guy (himself) who is caught in the middle of a serious horrible deadly world that the west really was.
It looks very good visually. Great score. But very inconsistent. Not hit and miss. More like hit and miss miss miss groan miss semi-hit miss. And the joke style kept changing. Silly to sweet to over the top and serious at times. and some of the jokes were so disgusting I don't know what they were thinking. (and i like disgusting)
Plus the anachronistic style gets tired fast.
And Seth as predicted should not have made himself the lead. He's not awful but would have benefited greatly with a pro. His persona is not fit for leading man status. And his voice and style is so in step with Brian's on family guy its a bit distracting.
Basically the tone of this film keeps changing. The joke styles keep changing. it doesn't know what it is. Is is a sweet western romcom? Is it a satire? Is it a serious comedy?
With all the success from Ted I'm guessing Seth had carte blanche with this one and probably needed someone to question him more.
Might be more fun if your stoned. Really really stoned. And/or maybe just see Blazing Saddles instead.

This movie actually made me laugh out loud throughout. Cameron Diaz was funny, as usual, but Leslie Mann's performance pushed the film from a 6 to an 8. Even Nicki Minaj (not a fan) has some acting skills, though she is known already for her many "characters." Taylor Kinney...who is he? Hmmm, he was so-so; his acting started out very rough in the film. The other actors were great.
An unlikely storyline, the band of wife and mistresses becomes believable. Coincidentally watched The First Wives Club a couple days later and this movie is like the updated, raunchy, and edgy version of that. Great storyline and it (and the characters) developed wonderfully! I say... go see it. Or at least watch it on video!
